How to Activate Your License

Once you have a license key, activation takes a few seconds and unlocks Pluely's full experience.

Steps

  1. Open the dashboard. From the overlay, click the Home icon in the top-left (or the Open dashboard chip in the top bar; it reads Close dashboard while the dashboard is open). The dashboard opens on its Home page.
  2. Find the License Key field — it sits right on the Home page, with the hint "Bought from the app? It activates by itself. Bought on the website, or got the license email? Paste that key below."
  3. Paste your license key — the string you received by email after purchase — and click the Activate License button (or just press Enter).

That's it — you'll see a "License activated successfully!" confirmation, the field becomes your masked Current License, your plan and remaining monthly usage appear right below, and Pluely's managed models unlock in the model picker.

What activation does

  • Ties your license to this installation so your plan and usage follow you.
  • Unlocks Pluely Models and any Pro features your plan includes (like auto-screenshot).
  • Shows your usage meters — live transcription time, file uploads, and AI requests for the month.
  • Turns on the stealth defaults: Always on top, Hide app icon and Meeting detection, on every Pro license including Dev Pro. Each stays a normal switch in App Settings. See What switches on with a license.

Removing your license

A license activates once, on one device, so removing it from the app does not free it up for another computer, and adding it again can fail. Pluely asks you to confirm before removing a license. Keep it unless support asked you to remove it.

Moving to a new computer

Activate the same key on your new device the same way. If you hit any issue, see Troubleshooting.

Bringing your own keys

If you're using Your Providers or Your CLI, you can use Pluely without a managed plan — configure your key or CLI and Pluely routes requests there. A license is still what unlocks Pluely's managed AI and Pro extras.
