How to Uninstall Pluely
Remove Pluely cleanly on macOS, Windows, or Linux — and decide up front whether your settings and meetings go with it or wait for your return.
What uninstalling removes
Uninstalling Pluely v1 removes the application itself. Your local data — saved meetings, shortcut customizations, and connected provider or CLI configuration — lives separately in the app's data folder and usually survives removal. For a fully clean removal, delete that folder too (steps below).
Step-by-step: uninstalling on macOS
- Quit Pluely completely.
- Open your Applications folder.
- Locate the Pluely application.
- Drag it to the Trash, or right-click and choose Move to Trash.
- Empty the Trash.
- To remove local data too, delete the app's data folder separately.
Step-by-step: uninstalling on Windows
- Quit Pluely completely.
- Open Settings and go to Apps (or Control Panel's "Programs and Features" on older Windows versions).
- Find Pluely in the list of installed applications.
- Select Uninstall and follow the prompts.
- To remove local data too, delete the app's data folder separately.
Step-by-step: uninstalling on Linux
- Quit Pluely completely.
- Remove it with your distribution's package manager or the method matching how you installed it (AppImage, "deb"/"rpm" package, or similar).
- Confirm the removal completes without errors.
- To remove local data too, delete the app's data folder separately.
Removing your local data
The data folder holds saved meetings, shortcut settings, and any encrypted provider keys you've added. Uninstalling permanently? Delete this folder after removing the app for a completely clean removal. Planning to reinstall? Leave it untouched and your settings come back with you.
Reinstalling Pluely later
Head to pluely.com/downloads, grab the installer for your operating system, and install as before. If you kept the data folder, many of your previous settings may be picked up; if you deleted it, you start fresh — reconnect any CLI or provider keys and re-customize your shortcuts.
Tips
- Fully quit Pluely before uninstalling on any platform to avoid leftover running processes.
- Troubleshooting a stubborn bug? A clean uninstall — data folder included — followed by a fresh install from pluely.com/downloads resolves issues a simple reinstall doesn't.
- Back up anything important from saved meetings before deleting the data folder — that removal is not reversible.
- Reinstalling soon? Just remove the application and keep the data folder.
