Attach and Library in Pluely v1: Files Without Re-Uploads
Alongside screenshots, the Pluely v1 overlay composer has two controls for giving Pluely file-based context: Attach, for adding something new, and Library, for reusing something you have already added before. Together they let you build up a working set of context without repeatedly uploading the same material.
Attach: bring in new context
Attach lets you add images, documents (including PDFs), and other files as context for your question. Use it any time you have something new to show Pluely — a screenshot you saved earlier, a PDF of documentation, a diagram, or any file relevant to what you are asking. Once attached, the file becomes part of the context Pluely considers when it answers.
Library: reuse without re-uploading
Library is described in Pluely v1 as a way to "re-attach a saved document (no upload used)" — in other words, it lets you pull a document you have attached before back into your current question without going through the upload process again. This matters for two reasons: it is faster, since there is no file picker or upload wait, and it avoids using an upload each time, since the document is already saved from a previous attach.
Library is the natural choice any time you find yourself reaching for the same reference document across multiple questions or multiple sessions — instead of attaching it fresh every time, you attach it once with Attach, and pull it back in afterward with Library.
How to attach a new file
- Open the overlay and bring up the composer.
- Select Attach.
- Choose an image, a document (including PDFs), or another file to add as context.
- The file attaches to your current message, ready to send along with your typed question.
- Ask your question — Pluely considers the attached file as context for its answer.
How to re-attach a saved document from Library
- Open the overlay and bring up the composer.
- Select Library.
- Choose the previously saved document you want to bring back into the current conversation.
- The document attaches instantly — no upload is used, since it is pulled from what is already saved.
- Ask your question with the reattached document as context.
Supported context types
Between Attach and Library together, Pluely's composer accepts:
- Images — screenshots or picture files, attached directly via Attach or captured with the Capture/Selection controls covered separately.
- Documents, including PDFs — reference material, specs, or written content attached via Attach.
- Other files — general files relevant to your question, attached via Attach.
- Previously saved documents — anything attached before, pulled back in via Library with no new upload.
When to use Attach versus Library
Use Attach the first time you bring a particular file into a conversation with Pluely. Use Library every time after that, whenever the same document is relevant again — a resume you keep referencing across interview prep sessions, a spec you keep coming back to while coding, or notes you attached once and want available in a later Ask mode question without re-uploading them.
