Launch on Startup: Auto-Open Pluely v1 With Your System

Launch on Startup is a Pluely v1 Settings toggle that decides whether Pluely opens itself the moment your computer boots, before you have manually clicked anything. It exists so that people who rely on Pluely throughout their workday do not have to remember to open it — it is simply there, ready, from the moment they log in.

What it does

The setting's description in Pluely v1 is direct: it will "automatically open Pluely when your system starts." When Launch on Startup is turned on, Pluely v1 confirms the behavior with the message that Pluely will launch automatically on system startup. When it is turned off, the message flips accordingly: Pluely will not launch automatically, and you are back to opening it yourself whenever you need it — from your applications folder, start menu, dock, or however you normally launch desktop apps.

How to turn Launch on Startup on or off

  1. Open the Pluely Settings window ("Manage your settings").
  2. Find the Launch on Startup control and read its description: "Automatically open Pluely when your system starts."
  3. Switch the toggle On if you want Pluely ready the moment you log in, or Off if you would rather launch it manually.
  4. Confirm the state — Pluely v1 shows a plain-language message ("Pluely will launch automatically on system startup" or "Pluely will not launch automatically") so you always know the current setting at a glance.

When to turn it on

Turn Launch on Startup on if you use Pluely every day as part of your normal workflow — for meetings, interviews, coding sessions, or ongoing Ask mode questions. With it enabled, you never lose the habit of having Pluely available; it is simply running in the background (or minimized, depending on your other settings like App Icon Stealth Mode) from the moment your system finishes booting.

When to turn it off

Turn Launch on Startup off if you only use Pluely occasionally, or if you share a computer and do not want it opening for other users automatically. It is also worth turning off temporarily if you are troubleshooting startup slowness on your machine and want to rule out which applications are contributing to boot time — Pluely is lightweight, but disabling any auto-start app is a reasonable first diagnostic step.

How this interacts with other settings

Launch on Startup only controls whether Pluely opens at boot — it says nothing about whether the window is visible once open. If you also enable App Icon Stealth Mode, Pluely can start up quietly with its icon hidden from your dock or taskbar, so it is ready to summon (typically with a keyboard shortcut) without announcing itself. If you enable Always On Top Mode as well, the window will float above everything else the instant you bring it forward. These three settings are independent, but many people who want Pluely to feel like a constant, low-friction assistant turn all three on together.

Pair this with App Icon Stealth Mode if you want Pluely to start quietly, and with Keyboard shortcuts to bring a hidden window forward instantly. For the full list of Settings sections, see the Settings overview. For the discretion angle in general, see Stealth & privacy.
