Dev Space: Manage Your Own AI Providers

The Dev Space is Pluely v1's power-user area — it's where you go to "Manage your dev space" and take direct control over exactly what powers your requests, instead of relying only on Pluely's managed models. It's the home for bring-your-own-key (BYOK) setups, and it exists specifically for people who want maximum privacy and maximum control over their AI stack.

What lives in the Dev Space

The Dev Space has three areas:

  1. Connect your CLI — detect and connect a locally installed AI CLI (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or Ollama) so requests can run through a tool already on your machine.
  2. Custom Providers (AI) — add and manage your own AI providers by supplying a curl command and telling Pluely how to read the response.
  3. Custom STT Providers (speech-to-text) — add and manage your own transcription providers the same way, so Listen mode can use a provider you configured yourself.

Anything you set up here shows up back in the overlay's "Select a model" picker under "Your CLI" or "Your providers (Dev Space)", so switching to it is just a click away once it's configured.

Why use the Dev Space

The Dev Space exists for the moments when Pluely's managed models aren't the right fit — because you want requests to stay on your own machine, you already pay for a provider account you'd rather use directly, or you simply want to know exactly which endpoint and key is handling your data. Every option here is something you configure and control yourself: your own CLI, your own curl command, your own API key.

Getting started

Open "Manage your dev space" from settings, then pick the area that matches what you want to set up:

  • Already have Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or Ollama installed? Start with Connect your CLI.
  • Have an API key for an AI provider you want to use directly? Start with Custom Providers.
  • Want to bring your own transcription provider for Listen mode? Start with Custom STT Providers.
