Meeting Detection: Start Transcribing With One Click

Pluely can notice when a meeting or call starts on your computer and offer to transcribe it. The overlay comes forward with a quiet Start transcription prompt, and a single click starts transcribing. There is no system notification on purpose: the overlay is invisible in screen shares and recordings, so nobody on the call can see the prompt, while a system banner would sit right on your shared screen.

Meeting detection is included with every Pro license: Limited Pro, Unlimited Pro and Dev Pro. It turns on the moment your license activates, together with Always On Top and the hidden app icon.

How it works

  1. A call starts in Zoom, Google Meet in your browser, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, Webex, Slack, Discord, or similar.
  2. The overlay comes forward, switches to Listen mode, and shows Zoom meeting detected (or the app it found) with a Start transcription button.
  3. Click the button and transcription starts right away.
  4. If you would rather not transcribe this one, dismiss the prompt. It disappears on its own when the call ends.

Pluely ignores its own microphone use, so transcribing a video or using push-to-talk never counts as a meeting.

Turning it on or off

Open Dashboard, then App Settings, then Meeting detection. It is on for every Pro license and turns itself on again whenever a license activates. Turn it off there if you prefer to start transcription yourself. Without a license the setting is off with a note saying a Pro license includes it.

What Pluely looks for

  • On macOS, Pluely detects a call the moment your microphone is in use by another app, the same signal behind the orange dot in the menu bar. That works for any meeting app or browser and needs no extra permission. Pluely names the app when it can; a browser call is named from the tab title, which needs the Screen Recording permission (see macOS permissions). Without it you will see A call in your browser instead, and everything still works.
  • On Windows and Linux, Pluely looks for a known meeting app or a meeting tab on screen, and recognizes an active Zoom meeting directly.
