Pluely for QA Testers: Bug Triage & Reproduction Notes
A stack trace you don't recognize just filled the console. You screenshot it, post it in chat, wait — and lose the thread of what you were testing. Pluely collapses that loop to seconds. Screenshot the error, ask right there in the overlay, and get a streaming explanation while the failing state is still on your screen. Then, when triage day comes, it transcribes the whole call and maps every bug to an owner.
While testing
- Screenshot-first debugging — capture an error dialog, console output, or a UI state that doesn't match the spec using image uploads (full screen or region capture) and ask Ask mode what's likely happening. Answers stream in; hit Stop the moment you've read enough.
- Same screen, several questions — flip on the "Use image" toggle and every question you type automatically carries the current screen, so a debugging back-and-forth doesn't need a fresh screenshot each time. Smart follow-up chips queue the obvious next question for you.
- Reproduction steps — describe what you did before the failure and ask Pluely to shape it into a clean, numbered repro sequence a developer can follow exactly.
- Expected vs. actual — attach the spec or ticket as a PDF, screenshot the actual result, and ask Pluely to articulate the gap precisely. Attach your product spec to a custom prompt in Prompts once, and every answer stays grounded in the real acceptance criteria.
During triage and bug bashes
Turn on Listen mode for triage calls where a dozen defects blur together. The live, speaker-labeled transcript records exactly which fix went to which engineer and which bug was deprioritized versus resolved — no bot joins the call, and it works with whatever meeting app your team uses. Afterward, the saved meeting in Meetings generates a per-defect summary and action items ready to paste into the tracker.
How to set it up
- For solo testing, just use Ask mode — screenshot and ask, nothing to start or stop.
- For triage calls, switch to Listen mode and grant microphone and screen-recording permission.
- Press Start listening as the call begins; the overlay stays on top without stealing focus from the app under test.
- Press Stop at the end; the meeting is saved automatically for action items.
- Use the Latest/All tabs in Ask mode to flip between the current answer and everything you've asked this session.
Tips
- Paste exact error strings alongside the screenshot when precision matters — screenshots give context, but exact text is safest typed.
- Teams already living in the terminal can point Pluely at a local CLI — Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or Ollama — via Model selection; BYO keys and CLIs aren't metered by Pluely.
- Standardize on numbered repro steps in your prompt so bug reports read the same across the whole QA team.
- Ask-mode attachments cap at 20 MB — split a huge spec rather than attaching it whole.
