Getting Started

Quick Start: Your First Question

This takes about a minute. By the end you'll have asked Pluely a question and gotten a streaming answer.

Step 1 — Open the overlay

Launch Pluely. The overlay is the small panel that floats on top of your other windows. If it's hidden, use your toggle shortcut to bring it back (you can customize this — see Keyboard Shortcuts).

Step 2 — Make sure you're in Ask mode

At the top of the overlay you'll see two modes: Ask and Listen. Select Ask.

Step 3 — Type a question

Click the input at the bottom of the overlay and type anything, for example:

Explain this error message in plain English.

Press Enter. Your question appears at the top of the panel and the answer streams in beneath it.

Step 4 (optional) — Add context from your screen

Pluely is at its best when it can see what you're looking at:

  • Attach a screenshot — capture your whole screen or drag to select a region, and Pluely reads it.
  • Attach an image or a document — drop in a picture or a file (PDF, etc.) and ask about it.

Now your question carries real context, and the answer is specific to what's in front of you.

Step 5 — Keep going

  • Every answer suggests a few follow-ups — tap one to dig deeper.
  • Switch between the Latest view (just this answer) and All (the full conversation) using the tabs in the answer header.
  • Pluely remembers the conversation, so follow-up questions build on what came before.
