Set the Transcription Language in Pluely

Pick the right transcription language before a session and your transcript comes out clean — no summary or translation can rescue a capture made in the wrong language. This guide shows how to set it before or during a live session.

Where the language setting lives

The language selector is part of Listen mode, the feature that captures and transcribes live audio in real time. You'll find it before starting a session, alongside the other Listen controls.

Available language modes

  • English (default) — the fastest, most broadly tested setting for most workplaces.
  • A specific language — the selector offers dozens of languages, fetched live so the list stays current: English first, then Auto multilingual, then the rest alphabetically. Pick one when the session stays entirely in that language.
  • Multilingual / auto mode — for conversations that mix languages; Pluely detects and transcribes across languages without you picking one ahead of time.

Step-by-step: setting the language

  1. Open the overlay or dashboard area for Listen mode.
  2. Locate the transcription language selector.
  3. For a single-language session, choose that language directly from the list.
  4. For a mixed-language session — a bilingual call, say — choose multilingual/auto mode instead.
  5. Start your Listen session. Pluely transcribes according to the mode you selected.
  6. After the session, open the saved meeting to review the transcript and confirm accuracy.

Fixed language vs. auto mode

Pick a specific language when the whole conversation stays in it — that gives the cleanest, most accurate transcript. Switch to multilingual/auto when speakers change languages mid-conversation; a fixed single-language setting misinterprets words spoken in another language.

Changing the language mid-session

Realized partway through a call that the wrong language is selected? Stop the Listen session, update the setting, and restart. That avoids a transcript that mixes accurate and garbled sections from before and after the change.

Tips

  • Default to English unless you specifically need another language — it's the most broadly tested setting.
  • Use multilingual/auto for any recurring meeting where participants naturally code-switch.
  • If names, acronyms, or jargon transcribe incorrectly, check that a specific language (rather than auto) is selected — auto can guess wrong on short phrases.
  • Review the saved transcript right after the session while context is fresh, so you catch language-related misses early.
